While it’s true that nominations to the Pathway of Fame, Peterborough and District can be made year ’round, the deadline for nominations for the current year is always April 30th. The latter, therefore, is the date by which you need to get your nominations in should you wish to have your nominee qualify for induction for the upcoming Class of 2025.
Every nomination requires an official Pathway of Fame Nomination form, which is available in pdf form as a download from the ‘Nominees’ Section of the Pathway Web Site, as well as instructions and recommendations for your submission. We ask that you be as detailed as you can about your nominee: tell us why you are such a fan of your nominee, and why your nominee is deserving of recognition. Tell us all about accomplishments, activities, talent, volunteering and so on – according to the particular Category through which you are placing your nomination. Letters of support for your nominee are always welcome. Each nomination must be accompanied by a $10 Nomination Fee which is payable to the Pathway of Fame via cheque, or e-transfer. Please note that we had a record number of nominations last year, and far more than our usual limit of around ten or so which we maintain for reasons of cost, and duration of the ceremony. In our early years, we inducted many more people than we are capable of inducting today – partly because we were trying to establish the Pathway as a new entity in 1998, nor did we have the time constraints required by available media to record the entire induction ceremony. For a number of years now, YourTV has graciously recorded the ceremony for playback on the COGECO platform, thus the need to keep the program to a reasonable length.
Submissions may be emailed with the accompanying nomination form and the fee e-transferred to the email address referenced on the Nominees Page. Failing that, your nomination submission can be either mailed or dropped off at Package Plus, located at 171 Rink Street, Peterborough K9J 2J6. Our Post Office Box is 250 at that address. You can also obtain a nomination form from there as well.
Following the deadline for submissions, nominations will be vetted by a three-person committee appointed every year from the community at large, whose task is to review all nominees, and make recommendations to The Pathway. We historically follow their lead. In this way, The Pathway of Fame remains a facilitator, but without influence in the selection. In this way, the entire exercise remains of the community, and for the community.
If your nominee, either for numbers or for whatever reason, is not accepted you are always welcome to submit again. However, the reprise nomination must be a new nomination with a fresh round of completed paperwork and a nomination fee. The Pathway of Fame does not have the capacity to retain paperwork, as such.
